Kind Reminder That Everyone in Healthcare is HUMAN First and Foremost

Please pay doctors esp junior doctors overtime! Also don't have ridiculous working hours like 14hrs!!!!!

US wtf are y'all doing? Avg working hours for residents are 40-80hr/wk, w some occasionally logging 136hr/wk

🤯🤯🤯😡😡😡

Ya'll know that according to the Fair Labour Standards Act (FLSA) (for USA before people get ansty at me that this is an Aus only privilege):

ANY WORK OVER 40HR/WEEK IS CONSIDERED OVERTIME and SHOULD BE APPROPRIATELY REMUNERATED!!!

Feeling really lucky that in Aus our avg working wk as junior docs is 50hrs + PAID OVERTIME. What are you doing America (follow @DGlaucomflecken

Lemme show by example below what overworked, sleep-deprived doctor/health professional interaction can be.

This is an ACTUAL convo I had w a final year med school friend at 7pm when we’ve both been up since 5:50am 💀🫣

What friend actually said: “[mutual friend] dipping Ortho rounds cuz she’s not surgically orientated and is now at a med conference interstate.”

What I heard: “Classified info- she got expelled and kicked out of med.”

DON’T ASK ME HOW A BECAME B ALRIGHT IT JUST DID

Funny story in this case BUT NOT FUNNY IF THIS WAS AN ACTUAL CLINICAL HANDOVER. For example: “MR is planned for surgery to remove R) kidney” is what is passed on, but IN REALITY the pathology/disease is in the L) kidney 💀 Non-healthcare people laugh all you want but this happens more often than you think BUT they are caught 99.9% of the time through multiple checkpoint time-outs, but if you or your fam is the 0.1%, doesn't matter how small the risk, you are the 0.1% stat.

KIND REMINDER THAT DOCTORS, MEDICAL STUDENTS, AH, NURSES, WARD CLERKS AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO WORK IN HEALTHCARE ARE HUMANS

SoRrY we're not suddenly gods or goddesses or the almighty → in baseball y'all think that a 300 batter is amazing → but as doctors we need to be right 100%????? Y'all know that even the most advanced medical centres know barely anything about the human body when it comes down to it?

Tip of the day: IDIOPATHIC = WE DON'T KNOW (not from lack of trying, we just don't understand why the body reacts in this way, and no we CANNOT LOGIC IT OUT, that's what we're trying to do Karen 😡)
