Med Tips! 😷

General

Doctors DO notice your efforts if you put yourself out there, even if it may appear like you're just a pot plant or fly on the wall so try to be proactive by

        - asking qs

        - offering to help (e.g. pushing the WOW)

        - making sure pt is as comfortable as possible

BUT do it at the right time (i.e. don't interrupt workflow, save qs to ask your team for when walking from one bed to another)

- Build rapport w your team → best way to get opportunistic teachings and more opportunities for procedural experience

(e.g. when in surgical rotation, go into theatre as much as possible to demonstrate your interest → more likely to get teaching during rounds on following days and invited to see cool stuff)

- When you find a good intern/resident/reg/consultant i.e. good at teaching AND nice → latch on and never let go XD → ask if they are willing to be your mentor if extra keen or doc in your field of interest

- Be like Sherlock! → SEE and OBSERVE → what sized gloves does your reg/consultant use? Do you need to get patient stickers? Does the pt need/want anything that is in your scope to give (?water ?tissues) → good way to get stellar references 😄
